Ancestors that owned slaves

The following are a list of ancestors that I have found so far that have at one point or another took part in some form of slave ownership. I make no excuses for their actions, but I am cognizant of the fact that despite the evils and wrongs committed, many people were products of their time. The fact is, it is statistically likely many if not all of our family lines have ancestors that either took part in slavery or were slaves themselves at one point in history, regardless of what your ethnicity or race is. Many more fought to end slavery, either behind the scenes or out on the open battlefield, even going as far as dying for the cause, including many of my ancestors here: http://www.timalcoser.com/military-service.html

NOTE: To preserve the historical authenticity of these records, I present the information exactly as it was stated and discovered with exception of potentially offensive words which will be denoted with an asterisk. See original sources for complete context.
